Is Your Torch Lit?

The purpose of this blog is to help others. (And to provide me a vehicle to express my ideas and daily happenings, so that I can sleep better.) 🙂

You and I are torch bearers. I am a torch bearer of joyful parenting. I pass it onto you, to run forward, inspired and grateful for your chance to be a wonderful parent. Go for the Gold!

I carry another torch too, which I work every day to keep bright, because it can so easily fade: The Light of Christ. President Dieter F. Uchtdorf explains that the Light of Christ is “a Light that swallows the darkness, heals our wounds, and blazes even in the midst of the deepest sorrow and unfathomable darkness.” Every parent needs this blaze in their life. He paraphrases what the Savior has promised: “If we keep His commandments and finish with our torch still lit, we will have eternal life, which is the greatest of all the gifts of God (see D&C 14:7; see also 2 Nephi 31:20).”

The Light that Never Dies

“Sometimes after stumbling, failing, or even giving up, we get discouraged and believe our light has gone out and our race is lost. But I testify that the Light of Christ cannot be extinguished. It shines in the darkest night and will relight our hearts if only we incline our hearts to Him (see 1 Kings 8:58).

“No matter how often or how far we fall, the Light of Christ ever burns brightly. And even in the deepest night, if we but step toward Him, His light will consume the shadows and reignite our souls.” (-Dieter F. Uchtdorf)

This is the same with the Parenting Torch. When our torches are bright, we are more grateful for our children, we are aware of our opportunity to create a better world through them. We are fueled to win in the marathon of family life. I hope to brighten your torch and then you can light/brighten someone else’s. So,
