How to Float

IMG_1170

An adult female takes must put forth some effort to float. Curt floats without care with a noodle or two, but me? I need every floating device in the pool to balance on top. Still, I couldn’t completely relax for fear of loosing it.

How is floating in the pool like life?
Is life easier for a kid that an adult?
Is balance a challenge, but is it worth it?
Can I completely relax when I feel like everything is going smooth for now?
What “floating devices” help me stay above the dangers of life?

How is floating in the pool like life?
The pool = The world
Me = My life
Noodles and Intertubes = Family, Friends and Faith
Water = Worries and Joys

Is life easier for a kid that an adult?
No. It is very hard being a kid today. Homework is harder, media is louder and distracting from reality, and more. Kids need security, love, nutrition, and education. Unfortunately whether they get these necessities is out of their control. Now that is HARD.

Is balance a challenge, but is it worth it?
Balance is a constant effort and is necessary or a mom will go insane! To achieve it, figure out what fills your reserve and take care of yourself. It is like the airplane safety tips. “Put the air mask on you before placing it on your child.” MOMs can’t be good MOMs for their kids if they are sick or worn ragged.

Can I completely relax when I feel like everything is going smooth for now?
Are you kidding? As soon as everything is going smoothly, something is going to go wrong. Stay alert! Be ready! Prevent as many kid problems as you can. And, when you get thrown for a loop, which has happened to me more times than I can count, get on your knees and pray before yelling.

What “floating devices” help me stay above the dangers of life?
I pray on my knees FIRST THING in the morning.
I read scriptures on my own in a quiet place (if possible) daily.
I go on a date with my hubby every week.
I hug and kiss my kids so they will know they are loved. They are more loving back because of this.
I read a book for fun before going to sleep so that my mind relaxes before I slip into oblivion.

What do you do to stay afloat?

  1. I think I have a hole in my inner tube…most days. Or are too many people sharing my inner tube with me. Either way, I feel like I am sinking too often.

    1. Everyday is a new day. The road to improvement takes effort – so patch up your hole by being your own best friend. Do what is most important first. Don’t forget to feed your spirit. This is the best glue I can think of.
