If your idea of a perfect spring afternoon includes fresh air, kids laughing, a burger in hand, and absolutely no pressure to “perform”… then you might want to circle May 2nd on your calendar.
Because out in the rolling countryside near Jamesport, something refreshingly simple is happening: the Honey Grove Spring Fling.
This isn’t one of those over-planned, over-packed events where you feel like you need a schedule just to keep up. It’s the opposite. It’s the kind of gathering where you can show up when you’re ready, stay as long as you like, and leave feeling like you had a good time.
Just Show Up—Really
There’s no complicated registration process. Just, head out to Honey Grove Campground, bring your people, and ease into the day.
Walk, Run… or Just Watch
One of the highlights of the afternoon is the Spring Fling Fun Run—but don’t let the word run scare you off.
This is not a serious race. No one’s judging your pace. No one’s expecting matching outfits or high-performance gear.
You can:
- Let your kids dash ahead in the Kids Run (free, by the way)
- Walk the ½ mile
- Jog the 1 mile
- Or just cheer from the sidelines with a drink in hand
It’s the kind of event where someone might be pulling a wagon, another person’s laughing halfway through, and a group of kids decides to sprint the last stretch just for fun.
Kids Are Free (and Fully Entertained)
If you’re a parent, you already know—finding something that’s both fun and affordable for the whole family is no small thing.
At the Honey Grove Campground Spring Fling:
- Kids can run, play, and roam
- Games like volleyball, frisbee, bocce ball, and badminton are set up and ready
- There’s space to just be a kid (which might be the best activity of all)
And yes—kids participate in the fun runs for free.
Come Hungry, Stay Awhile
There’s something about eating outside that just hits different.
During the main part of the event, you’ll find:
- Free hamburgers for the first 50 campers
- Burgers, soda, water and chips available (cash only)
- An optional potluck if you feel like contributing (no pressure there either)
You can grab a plate, find a seat (or a patch of grass), and settle into a conversation that lasts longer than you expected.
Fresh Air
- Friendly faces
- A few shared activities
- Food
- And freedom.
A Simple Invitation
So if you’ve been looking for something low-key, welcoming, and genuinely enjoyable…
This is it.
No pressure.
No expectations.
Just show up.
And chances are, you’ll be glad you did.
