Let’s share a beautiful truth here, and it’s something that I’ve been learning from some close friends, whom I trust very much.
2 Nephi 2:26 – “And the Messiah cometh in the fulness of time, that he may redeem the children of men from the fall. And because that they are redeemed from the fall they have become free forever, knowing good from evil; to act for themselves and not to be acted upon, save it be by the punishment of the law at the great and last day, according to the commandments which God hath given.”
Here we discover a plain and simple truth and it’s something that will change your life if you decide to completely believe it.
Here it is:
Your nature is eternal. God doesn’t create anything out of nothing, He simply organizes the intelligence (the material) that was already there. Because we are made up of this same intelligence, we, at our spiritual core, never had a beginning, nor do we have an end! The scriptures state so.
So, because your nature is eternal, your environment does not have to define you. There is no force that actually is in charge of you. You can define your environment. You are in complete control of your life if you so choose. Yes, God gives us some wonderful guidelines that we can follow (aka the commandments), but He gave us agency, the power to act for ourselves – it’s the defining characteristic that differed between His plan and Satan’s failed proposed plan.
I’d invite you to research more on the doctrine behind our eternal nature. Thank you! Happy studies!
